Six concert-goers are hospitalized, while one is in critical status.

A mass shooting took place outside a rap performance venue leaving six individuals hospitalized.

The concert, taking place at Eugene, Oregon happened Friday night, January 14, 2022.

The incident occurred at around 9:30 p.m. local time in the parking lot of WOW Hall - the performance venue and nonprofit community center in downtown Eugene, while rappers Lil Bean and Zay Bang were performing inside the venue, according to authorities.

The victims

In a press release the day after, the Eugene Police Department reported that they got multiple victims with gunshot wounds.

Eugene Police Department Police Chief Chris Skinner also added that the five other victims were already stable, but the other one is critical in surgery.

The injured individuals were sent to nearby hospitals for treatment. Their situations were not immediately disclosed, and police did not specify if they had all been hit by gunshots.

The suspect

The Eugene Police Department also reported that at this point, they have eyes on "a male in a hoodie" seen "running westbound on 8th", right after the shooting took place.

Eyeing the man in a hoodie as the prime suspect, the individual is still at large, and is "likely armed and dangerous".

The reason for the shooting during the performance, which included rappers Lil Bean and Zay Bang, remains a mystery at this time.

The Police chief also added that the shooting is "certainly one of the highest profile shootings" that they have had in the city of Eugene.

The case

When police arrived, they characterized the situation as chaotic and "difficult to manage," with witnesses who were hesitant to participate in the police inquiry.

According to a statement posted on the WOW Hall website on Friday, Interim Executive Director Deb Maher and Board Chair Jaci Guerena confirmed hearing gunfire coming from the parking lot's back end while working at the venue.

The management explained that the motives are "not yet known".

As some people were injured, the camp mentioned that they "do not want to speculate".

On Saturday, rapper Savelle Tha Native, who was slated to play at the event on Friday night, took to Instagram to express his feelings about the incident.

Tha Native was saddened as he felt that the community has started gaining traction in the hip hop scene.

The FBI has also assisted in investigating the concert shoot-out, as they are urging anyone who has information to contact the Eugene Police Tipline at (541) 682-5162.
