Forty-three years ago, Jim Morrison died of a drug overdose, and Marianne Faithfull knows who is responsible.

In a recent interview with MOJO, the 67-year-old British singer claims that her ex-boyfriend - late heroin dealer Jean de Breteuil - was the one who provided the deadly dose of drugs.

The couple was travelling in Paris in July 1971 when de Breteuil made the fateful visit to Morrison's apartment.

"I could intuitively feel trouble," said Faithfull. "I thought, I'll take a few Tuinal and I won't be there. And he went to see Jim Morrison and killed him. I mean I'm sure it was an accident. Poor bastard. The smack was too strong? Yeah. And he died. And I didn't know anything about this. Anyway, everybody connected to the death of this poor guy is dead now. Except me."

Morrison - The Doors' world-famous singer - was 27 when he passed away.

During the interview, Faithfull later turned to another fallen icon: Amy Winehouse. Faithfull had some strong words for the late singer, who also died of an overdose in 2011 at the age of 27.

"Amy was very, very wary of me," Faithfull said. "She knew that I knew and she didn't want me to say anything. There's a level of narcissism which is all mixed up with self-hatred. I know it well. It's like a glass wall between you and the world, so that all the love that everybody pours onto you, you don't feel it. But I can't think what I could have done apart from take her and [shouts] shake her! 'You stupid little c---! Wake up!'"

Faithfull's new album Give My Love To London is due on Sept. 29. It will feature musical help from Adrian Utley, Brian Eno and others while also getting some songwriting assistance from Nick Cave, Roger Waters, Steve Earle, Tom McRae and Anna Calvi.

She's also got an upcoming 50th anniversary tour that will open in Germany on Oct. 11.
