Dolly Parton just announced that she is no longer interested in having long "full-blown" tours anymore, and save for some long weekend shows and festivals.

In an interview with Pollstar Magazine, she revealed the shocking news, "I do not think I will ever tour again, but I do know I'll do special shows here and there, now and then."

"Maybe do a long weekend of shows, or just a few shows at a festival. But I have no intention of going on a full-blown tour anymore," she added.

The country music star reminded fans that she is now 76 years old, not too old to still continue performing, but can definitely do some time at home with her family more often.

"I like to stay a little closer to home with my husband. We're getting older now," she explained, 'and I don't want to be gone for four or five weeks at a time."

She solemnly added, "something could happen, [and] I would not feel right about that. if I were gone and somebody needed me. Or I would feel bad if I had to leave a tour if somebody got sick at home and needed me and then I had to walk out on the fans."

What Won't Stop

According to reports, although Parton is trading in the long-haul tours for shorter weekend shows, she will still continue making music.

She is currently in the work of making a rock and roll album, dedicated for her husband, Carl Dean. They have been married since 1966, and she is in the works of making him the subject of the music of her upcoming album.

"When I got nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, I thought, well, no better time to do it.' I had always wanted to do it," she shared.

"My husband is a big hard rock 'n' roll fan, and for years I thought, 'One of these days I'd like to do an album mainly just for him, just to kind of do it.'"

The singer is busy with various projects, and laying off the tours might actually do her some good. According to reports, she is also working for a Christmas "special."

"It's a show within a show. What we're doing is focused on the dramatic side. It's showing all the things that go on while you're putting together a show."

"I wouldn't consider me acting, because I'm just totally myself in this. I'm just Dolly all the way, I'm not playing a character," she added.

Parton also has another production coming up with the adaptation of a James Patterson novel, a movie entitled "Run, Rose, Run."
