Is "Weird Al" Yankovic retiring?

For decades, Yankovic has been strengthening his own empire by giving his fans a new taste in music. Aside from releasing new songs, he famously drops parodies, as well, which have since become a hit in the global music scene.

He expanded his career move even more since the release of his LP, "Mandatory Fun," in 2014. He served as the bandleader on Comedy Bang! Bang! and had nationwide tours.

The singer also worked on a biopic about his life starring Daniel Radcliffe.

While these things kept him busy, fans have been wondering why Yankovic has not released a new parody song - ultimately sparking buzz that he might be retiring.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Yankovic said releasing a single parody song is not his priority. Still, he clarified that the absence of his parodies does not mean he is leaving the industry.

"I'm not so focused on that. If a brilliant idea pops in my head, I guess I'd do it. But I'm leaving that to other people for the time being. I'm not retiring. I'm not saying I'm never gonna do another one. But it's just not my focus right now," he said.

Why "Weird Al" Yankovic Has No New Parody Song

In the past decades, Yankovic famously dropped parody songs, including "Achy Breaky Song," "Addicted To Spuds," "Bedrock Anthem," "eBay," "Eat It," "Gump," and "Girls Just Want To Have Lunch," to name a few.

Although he has a long list of hit parody songs, Yankovic seemingly revealed the truth behind his decision not to release one - he is burned out.

According to Yankovic, he spent decades of his life obsessing with the Billboard charts. By not releasing a parody, he gave himself a chance to take a break from it and focus on the things he loves instead.

Still, he is not closing the doors for another comedy parody song. He promised his fans that he would do it once a great idea comes in.

But the singer still clarified he would not force it just to "feed the pipeline."

Yankovic is taking all his time to rest after wrapping up his "Ridiculously Self-Indulgent, Ill-Advised Vanity Tour" at New York's Carnegie Hall on October 29. He revealed he has additional shows next year, but he has not released details about them.
