The late Notorious B.I.G., also known as Biggie Smalls, may have died decades ago but his legacy will always be remembered as he was one of the most iconic hip-hop artists of his time. Recently, a concert was announced to celebrate his music and he would be participating... At least virtually; how is it possible?

According to Uproxx, the late musician, who died in 1997 at the age of 24, will star in a virtual concert called "Sky's The Limit: A VR Concert Experience," named after his hit 1997 collaboration with 112.

Biggie would be performing several classic hits in the event through a "realistic avatar." The show's setlist will reportedly feature some of his songs across his music catalog.

Made possible by Meta, his estate, and produced by Gunpowder & Sky, the virtual event, which is meant to celebrate his 50th birthday year, would also give fans a glimpse of his childhood through a guided tour of the neighborhood he grew up in.

How to Watch 'Sky's The Limit: A VR Concert Experience'?

According to Variety, the event would premiere on December 16, 2022, exclusively on Meta platforms like Meta Horizon Worlds using Meta Quest 2 or Meta Quest Pro virtual-reality headset.

For fans who don't have a VR device, they could still watch the 2D performance at Notorious B.I.G.'s official Facebook page.

RSVP and more details are available on Oculus' official website.

Special guests include Sean "Diddy" Combs, Nardo Wick, The Lox, Lil' Cease, and Latto.

Does Voletta Wallace Approve of the Virtual Concert?

Since Biggie Smalls is the only child of Voletta Wallace, the virtual event could have a big impact on her as it would revisit her son's past.

However, she clarified in a statement that she fully approves of the concert, saying it's hard for her to "grasp" that there is a new opportunity to share the rapper's music through technology.

In addition, the mother noted that she found "so much excitement" in the stages of developing her son's avatar and "understanding the value added for fans to experience him in ways unattainable until now."

Wallace later expressed her gratitude to everyone who worked at the event and to the people who made the project possible.
