Christine McVie's health problems before her death have been put under the spotlight.

On Wednesday, McVie died peacefully at a hospital following a short illness. Her family confirmed the heartbreaking event and said that they were with her at the time of her passing.

They also asked for privacy as they went through the dark time in their lives.

Christine McVie's exact cause of death was not shared with the public, but search queries about her past health issues recently skyrocketed.

Did Christine McVie Suffer From Health Problems?

In the months leading to her death, McVie disclosed that she could not get back on the road with Fleetwood Mac because of the health issue she was suffering from.

She told Rolling Stone in June that her mind was willing to tour again, but her body was already weak.

"I don't feel physically up for it. I'm in quite bad health. I've got a chronic back problem, which debilitates me. I stand up to play the piano, so I don't know if I could actually physically do it. What's that saying? The mind is willing, but the flesh is weak," she said.

She did not mention what exactly her back problem was, but several news outlets said it was scoliosis.

According to the Scoliosis Reduction Center, the health issue - however - cannot lead to someone's death. Although the condition is progressive, it can be treated and managed with the help of healthcare professionals.

This should be taken with a grain of salt, though, as her family is yet to confirm whether her back problem had something to do with her passing.

Meanwhile, McVie also admitted to using drugs during the 1970s and 1980s when the substance was normalized.

In the book, "Fleetwood Mac on Fleetwood Mac: Interviews and Encounters," the late singer revealed that wearing drug-related jewelry at that time was not abnormal. She added that she stayed up for three days with the white powder, leading that excessive thing almost caused her a heart attack.

In 2004, McVie revealed she stopped using alcohol and drugs. She also gave up smoking and started chewing nicotine gum instead.

"I have flirted with not smoking for a few years now and I am going to crack it this time. It is the hardest drug of all. I did quit for five years once. Then my second marriage broke down, so I started again immediately. You can't stop trying," the late singer continued.
