American Idol alum Josh Gracin scared fans with a suicidal Facebook note this week. But thanks to some quick action, a tragedy was prevented, and the singer is now seeking assistance.

On Friday, manager Amy McIntosh said that Gracin has been admitted for psychiatric help (via TV Guide):

"As many of you know, Josh Gracin has been battling depression and as a result found himself in a personal crisis yesterday," she wrote. "Thanks to the outpouring of concern from family, friends, fans and the police, Josh was admitted to the hospital for observation."

The drama began with Gracin - who finished fourth on Idol's second season back in 2003 as the "singing Marine" - posted the following note on his Facebook page after an apparent rift with his wife on Thursday:

"I've loved her for 17 years...I made mistakes...I admitted them, told her the truth and she turned her back on me when I needed her help the most...I love you all.. You have given me the greatest gift. You allowed me to touch your hearts with what I loved to do the most...Please remember me as someone who gave his all in his music...Pray for my family as they carry on in this world without me. Goodbye."

Family and fans panicked, and an emergency unit was dispatched to Gracin's residence in Tennessee, where responders were able to intercept Gracin on his way home.

Soon after, Gracin posted a new Facebook message:

"I want to thank you all for your prayers and support. I take responsibility for my actions and apologize dearly for what I have put my family through. With the help of my family and friends, I am getting help. Again, thank you for your love, and I will see you very soon."
