Fans are looking forward to Belle and Sebastian's tour this year, but it appears that they won't see them perform live anytime soon after the group announced that their scheduled shows are canceled due to frontman Stuart Murdoch's health; what medical condition is he suffering from?

The singer issued a statement on the band's official Instagram account, confirming that their upcoming tour will no longer move forward after his health "took a dive" in November 2022.

Initially, the musician thought he would recover over the next few months leading up to their concerts, but the band ultimately decided it was safer to cancel the tour and "leave a clear path to recovery, rather than take a risk and have to cancel at the last minute."

Giving a ray of hope to fans, Murdoch confirmed that they have big plans in store for them over the next six months as they're planning to release their second LP and go on tour across America.

"While the record made it out, we're going to have to wait a bit longer until we can tour it," he added, before expressing his apologies to their supporters for the inconvenience.

Stuart Murdoch Health Condition

Murdoch has been struggling with a health condition for decades and he previously confirmed to Rolling Stone that it was the main reason why the group canceled their fall and winter tour late last year.

Explaining his side, the singer said it's not that he's suddenly taking time out to finish a book, but rather, he's been battling ME or myalgic encephalomyelitis, a chronic fatigue syndrome.

According to Mayo Clinic, the medical condition is a complicated disorder as it causes extreme fatigue to patients that could last for over six months.

To determine if a person has chronic fatigue syndrome, they have to undergo many tests as there is no single assessment to confirm a diagnosis.

For those who have it, symptoms include extreme exhaustion after physical or mental exercise, muscle pain, dizziness that worsens, memory problems, and unrefreshing sleep.

It could be genetic, but there are cases when it's caused by an infection, physical or emotional trauma, and problems with the usage of physical energy.
