Talking Heads' 'Stop Making Sense' 1984 Concert Film Set for Rerelease [DETAILS]

In the 1980s, Talking Heads had one of their concerts filmed; it was titled "Stop Making Sense," which was released in 1984.

Obviously, it has been years since its release, and it was probably even filmed using tapes, unlike today's high-tech equipment used to film like high-definition cameras.

Fans who want to relive the show-or even fans who want to watch it for the first time-can now rejoice because A24 just announced that "Stop Making Sense" will soon be released once again but in 4K.

To sweeten the pot, aside from the restored version of the concrete film, an expanded version of the concert film's soundtrack will be included.

This forthcoming deluxe version will be released as a vinyl and digitally on Aug. 18, and it will boast the songs, "Cities" and "Big BusinessI Zimbra."

"Stop Making Sense" was directed by Jonathan Demme, Pitchfork reported, and it was filmed over three nights at the Talking Heads concert in Pantages Theatre in Hollywood.

'Stop Making Sense' Concert Film

The remastered version of the concert film will still feature the same familiar faces of the Talking Heads members: David Byrne, Tina Weymouth, Chris Frantz, and Jerry Harrison.

Alongside the band are P-Funk Bernie Worrell, Alex Weird, Steve Scales, Lynn Mabry, and Edna Holt, Deadline noted.

Fans can expect to find the Talking Heads performing some of their hit and fan-favorite songs such as "Burning Down the House, "Take Me to the River," "Psycho Killer," "Once in a Lifetime," "Lufe During Wartime," and more.

With such a super lineup of songs being performed by a superstar band being filmed by an equally talented director, it is no surprise that the concert film was entered into the National Film Registry in 2021.

According to reports, the National Film Registry was established by the Library of Congress in 1988.

The criteria to be entered are quite steep, as this list is very prestigious, only "culturally, historically or aesthetically significant" films that are "works of enduring importance to American culture" will be included.

"Stop Making Sense" is considered as one of the greatest concert films ever, Variety notes, and understandably so-it was directed by the same filmmaker who directed "Silence of the Lambs" and "Philadelphia."

'Stop Making Sense' Deluxe Tracklist

The deluxe version will boast 18 songs: "Psycho Killer"; "Heaven"; "Thank You For Sending Me An Angel"; "Found a Job"; "Slippery People"; "Cities"; "Burning Down the House"; "Life During Wartime"; "Making Flippy Floppy"; "Swamp"; "What a Day That Was"; "This Must Be the Place (Naive Melody)"; "Once in a Lifetime"; "Big Business / I Zimbra"; "Genius of Love"; "Girlfriend is Better"; "Take Me to the River"; and "Crosseyed and Painless".
