Shakira has been publicly open about her divorce with Gerard Pique and even took a dig at him at her collaborative track "Bzrp Music Sessions Vol. 3" with Bizarrap. More recently, there have been reports circulating online that a specific line in the song about her mother-in-law could have an explanation; find out more below.

According to el Popular, the musician and her ex-husband's mother, Monsterrat Bernabéu, didn't get along throughout her relationship with her son.

The outlet alleged that the reason why they don't like each other was because the bond between them was "very tense" and the two didn't even want to see each other on a regular basis.

Shakira, Gerard Pique's Mom Involved in a Big Fight?

Semana Magazine previously reported an insider told them that the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law duo allegedly had a big fight in the past.

The altercation was so serious to the point that Bernabéu hit Shakira in front of Gerard Pique and their kids.

"[The source] had already witnessed a serious discussion in which Montserrat Bernabéu hit Shakira in the face in front of Gerard and her children," the outlet reported. (translated from Spanish to English)

There's an alleged evidence swirling around that the mother-in-law ordered the Colombian singer to remain silent about their fight.

Gerard Pique's Mom Knew About Her Son's Infidelity

At the time when Gerard Pique had an alleged affair with his now-partner Clara Chia Marti, Shakira went to Monsterrat Bernabéu to cry on her shoulder.

However, despite the Latin superstar being emotional, the mother reportedly knew everything as her son and her lover "took refuge in a house that Pique's parents have" in Spain.

This is the alleged reason why the Colombian songstress became mad at her ex mother-in-law and took out her anger in the song "Bzrp Music Sessions Vol. 3."

"You left me your mother as my neighbor, media outlets at my door and in debt with the government/ You thought you hurt me, but you made me stronger/ Women don't cry anymore, they cash in," the lyrics read translated from Spanish to English. (via Billboard)

As of this writing, Shakira has not publicly confirmed whether the rumors mentioned above were true or not.
