In the past few months, while he is on his Arena tour, Bruce Springsteen has suffered a lot of health bouts that had worried his fans. With the sudden cancellations and postponement of many of his shows, the singer, because of his old age, seemed to be weakening as more and more complications in his health arose.

Bruce Springsteen Health Update

According to Variety, The Boss and his wife, Patty Scialfa, missed perhaps one of their most important events this year - the inaugural American Music Honors Awards show. It is a fundraiser event for the Bruce Springsteen Archives and Center for American Music at Monmouth University.

The event was supposed to take place last Apr. 15, 2023, at Monmouth University in New Jersey with two of the main presenters - Springsteen and Scialfa. However, Archives director Bob Santelli announced the sad news hours after Springsteen and E Street Band performed at the Prudential Center for the first leg of their 2023 Arena tour.

Per Santelli, it was a heartbreaking moment for him to get a call early in the morning from Springsteen and Scialfa, who revealed that they have been diagnosed with COVID-19.

American comedian Jon Stewart, who is the host of the show, tried to make the atmosphere light despite the absence of the two most important people on the show.

"They're alive. Don't overreact. You can still see them in concert. They're home sitting by the fire eating French onion soup," he said, which sent the room laughing.

Although The Boss was not present in the venue, he made his presence felt as he stepped on and braved the sickness as he shot a videotape, presenting the awards to Darlene Love and loyal E Street Band guitarist Little Steve or Steven Van Zandt.

"Aren't you supposed to have sniffles or something? We shut down the world for a year and a half," Stewart joked after seeing Springsteen on tape, who he said looked "eerily healthy" and looked better than him with COVID.

Bruce Springsteen COVID History

Earlier this March 2023, Springsteen canceled his Ohio, Albany, and Connecticut concerts because of an undisclosed illness. A month before that, his band, including Little Steve was knocked down by COVID, and so was Scialfa.

This is the first time that outlets have reported that Bruce Springsteen contracted COVID-19 during the tour, but it has been speculated that the "mystery illness" he had was of the same fatal virus. Eventually, he has overcome it, and hopefully this one too.
