The same criticism about Alex Turner's accent was shared by all Glastonbury Festival attendees as Arctic Monkeys took the stage on Friday.

Fans were thrilled to see the trio perform live on the Pyramid Stage, but when they heard his voice, they were perplexed.

Saluting the audience with "Greetings Somerset," he put on a black suit and dark sunglasses before starting to play "Snap Out Of It."

He exclaimed, "Wow, the monkeys are back on the farm." The Sheffield-born star's accent was criticized by viewers on social media, who claimed it was "getting weirder and weirder."

Another person wrote: "Alex Turner has transformed the Arctic Monkeys, one of the best UK bands, into a little bit of a joke. What the f**k is with this persistent accent?"

 "I adore the Arctic Monkeys, but Alex Turner is wrecking this set, f**k me!" Why does he have a silly accent when singing? Terrible?" a different user exclaimed.

"Alex Turner's accent just gets weirder and weirder," one disgruntled admirer remarked. When he performs live, he literally mutilates his own discography. sour karaoke. After a stressful few days for the band due to lead singer Alex falling ill, the Arctic Monkeys will perform this evening at Worthy Farm.

Not all the comments were negative though. In fact, there are a lot of fans who just enjoyed their performance, taking to their social media accounts to appreciate the band. Some find the complainants quite ridiculous, given the fact that it was inevitable Alex Turner would no longer sound like a teenager, at 37. 

 

 

 

After the trio was forced to postpone their outdoor concert in Dublin on Tuesday due to Turner's severe laryngitis, fans feared Alex and his bandmates wouldn't appear on the Pyramid Stage on the first night of the festival. Laryngitis is an inflammation or swelling of the vocal cords or voice box in the throat. According to the NHS, it normally fades away on its own in 1 to 2 weeks.

As it was revealed that the concert at Marlay Park wouldn't go ahead, the Arctic Monkeys issued an apology to their fans via social media on Monday.
