Everyone was shocked in 2020 when rapper MF Doom passed away. At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, MF Doom's death sent the hip-hop community grieving in the isolation of one's home, along with all the worry about how catastrophic the pandemic was at the time.

However, MF Doom's death wasn't announced until two months after he passed away alone in the hospital. Now, MF Doom's real cause of death was finally revealed by his widowed wife.

MF Doom Real Cause of Death Revealed

Rapper MF Doom, formally named Daniel Dumille, passed away on Oct. 31, 2020. He was survived by his wife and his children. Back then, the reason for his death was ruled out to be "unknown causes."

Now, Jasmine Dumille, MF Doom's wife, after three years, finally revealed to the public the real cause of death of MF Doom.

Speaking to Leeds Live, Dumille revealed that MF Doom's health condition "suddenly deterioerated" while he was in the hospital. MF Doom's real cause of death was angioedema. It is a rare reaction to a blood pressure medication that he was prescribed initially.

MF Doom suffered respiratory problems before he was admitted to St. James' University Hospital in Leeds, England.

Dumille noted that her husband was in good shape back then, but he had suffered from a string of health issues too. This included kidney disease and high blood pressure, which contributed to his anxiety and weight gain.

MF Doom Died Because of Blood Pressure Medication?

Elaborating more on her husband's condition in the interview, Dumille revealed that her husband called her in distress from the hospital when the swelling got worse for his tongue and throat, which was the reason why he went to the hospital in the first place.

Doubts of mismanagement were thrown by Dumille's legal team as there was an alleged two-hour delay before MF Doom was given medication for his throat swelling. However, an inquest revealed that the rapper was closely monitored by the staff and he showed signs of recovery.

However, the same inquest also revealed that on Oct. 21, MF Doom complained of a breathing problem, and even attempted to get out of his bed before eventually collapsing and suffering respiratory arrest, which led to his tragic death.

Sadly, because of COVID-19 protocols in place, Dumille was given the chance to visit her husband until only Oct. 31, when the respirator that helped the rapper breathe was turned off.
