Although Taylor Lautner dated pop diva Taylor Swift for five months in 2009, their friendship-along with that of his wife of eight months, Taylor 'Tay' Dome-appears to be in good spirits. It's an exemption to the rule that exes and wives cannot be friends.

On Wednesday's episode of the newlyweds' podcast The Squeeze, the 31-year-old Michigan native reflected that he knows on paper, it sounds like a tough situation, but he not once was ever worried about it.

They all simply feel secure in their connection.

Tay is the most laid-back and cool person ever. She also loves that individual dearly. It was basically a great situation because [Swift] is the sweetest person alive. The 34-year-old Pennsylvania native is "as nice as she is, and so sweet and so respectful," the 26-year-old registered nurse who is wearing a The Eras Tour T-shirt revealed.

She is simply pleasant and really reassuring. If you didn't know who she was, you wouldn't realize she was well-known. You would not be aware, Lautner even said.

In the fall of 2009, Swift and Lautner dated for a while before calling it quits in December. "She didn't like him as much as he liked her. She didn't travel far to see him, but he went everywhere he could to see her, a source told Us Weekly at the time. "They decided that they were better off as friends." Back in October 2010, when the musician released Speak Now, she told Yahoo! Music that "Back to December" was distinct from her earlier breakup songs since it had a different message. She acknowledged at the time, "Until now, I haven't really felt like I truly needed to apologize to someone."

"It's just essential, she added.

In the track, Swift sings, "You gave me roses and I left them there to die / So this is me swallowin' my pride / Standin' in front of you sayin' I'm sorry for that night / And I go back to December all the time."
