Tim McGraw is proud and grateful that Taylor Swift named her debut single after him.

Swift released her debut single, "Tim McGraw," in 2006 as part of her self-titled debut studio album. She immediately conquered the charts because of the song, and the name's owner recently reacted to the "honor."

Tim McGraw Opens Up About Taylor Swift's Single

In his interview with Yahoo Music, McGraw shared his thoughts about the "Lover" hitmaker naming the first track of her debut album, "Tim McGraw." The song notably appeared on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart in 2006.

"It makes me pretty proud, I like that," he said. "At first, when she first came out with it I thought 'Have I gotten that old, now these artists are singing songs with my name in it?' But I'm so happy for her, and we knew right away that she was a huge talent."

The 56-year-old "Don't Take the Girl" singer got the chance to perform with Swift several times in the past, including working on a special rendition of the song with McGraw's wife, Faith Hill, during the female singer's Reputation Stadium Tour stop in Nashville in August 2018.

They also worked with Keith Urban on the 2013 "Highway Don't Care."

In a previous interview with Apple Music, McGraw admitted that he is a big fan of Swift since the "champagne problems" hitmaker has a unique way to connect with her audience. He also applauded her songwriting ability and her intuition.

Elsewhere in the interview, the "Live Like You Were Dying" singer praised Swift's songwriting, live performance, and musical skills that made her "one of the greatest songwriters ever."

McGraw said the female singer is an incredible entertainer who ultimately became one of the best of their generation.

Swift, on the other hand, revealed in an interview that she started working on "Tim McGraw" while having her math class. She recalled suddenly singing "When you think Tim McGraw," and it became the concept of the song.

It attracted her even more as the song resonated with her life story at that time, during which she was dating a guy who moved away.

"So I started thinking of things that I knew would remind him of me," she went on. "The first thing that came to mind was that my favorite song is by Tim McGraw."
