The Chainsmokers released a picture of themselves shirtless, sporting only a pair of Calvin Klein underwear and jeans, but netizens were not amused.

The music duo copied a famous Calvin Klein photoshoot of Justin Bieber and his wife Hailey Bieber from 2019, however, instead of receiving laughs, they received criticism.

"You know someone's career is in the gutter when they start doing gay s**t," an X (formerly known as Twitter) user wrote.

"You know the career is flopping when they start queerbaiting," another added.

"Charlie Puth Queerbating Masterclass gives this a 3/10."

Some even joked about the pair being brothers, "Posing like this with your sibling is INSANE."

Although, it should be noted that The Chainsmokers are not brothers. The Grammy Award winning duo consists of Alex Pall, 38, and Drew taggart, 33.

The Chainsmokers Flops?

The Chainsmokers got their first big break in the music industry following the release of their viral hit song "#Selfie."

At one point, they were the highest-paid DJs during their prime, surpassing Calvin Harris, who held that record for six years.

Their songs "Roses," "Don't Let Me Down," and "Closer" were all chart-topping hits.

However, The Chainsmokers only enjoy remnants of the success they received in the beginning of their career.

People have labeled them as flops, as they seemed to not have any viral hits in recent years, but their music still manage to enter Billboard charts.

Their most recent release, "So Far So Good," which was released in 2022 debuted atop Billboard's Top Dance/Electronic albums chart.

The Chainsmokers New Projects

While they have not released any new albums as a music duo, Taggart recently dropped his newest single "Self Destruction Mode."

He shared a video clip of himself playing the piano, with the song playing, the musician was candid about his alcohol addiction: "I've struggled with drinking throughout my career as it's an addiction that's woven into the environment we exist in.

"This guilt of not being good enough or not being better ironically sends me into a spiral that restarts my bad habit cycle."

"This song isn't a cry for help but more of an embrace or celebration of all that I am," he wrote. "I know that I'm flawed. I know that I am great and so are you. Never forget it."
