When Tinashe was still contracted to RCA in 2015, she collaborated with Chris Brown on the song "Player."

Her R. Kelly collaboration, "Let's Be Real Now," followed shortly after.

In a recent interview with the Zach Sang Show, the singer discussed working with two men who have been accused of abuse on Wednesday, September 12. "I actually force that R. Kelly song out of my head.

"I literally block out that R. Kelly song from my mind. I forget that it even exists," she said in a clip from the interview posted to TikTok. "That is so embarrassing. That is so unreal that I even have a song with R. Kelly. That's so embarrassing."

She continued, saying that she was "so young" when "Let's Be Real Now" was released.

"Especially when it comes to singles, for example - that song with Chris [Brown]," Tinashe replied. "That was a song that we all wanted it to be this big moment, this big single. So I feel like, in their mind, they were like, 'You need the support.' He was their biggest artist that they had on rhythmic radio at the time. To me, I was like, 'Well, this is a pop song. So, I really don't feel like we should put Chris on it.' That doesn't compute to me, but I don't know."

Meanwhile, R. Kelly was found guilty in 2021 at the conclusion of a federal trial in New York on all nine allegations levied by the prosecution against him, including racketeering and sex trafficking. 2019 saw Tinashe depart from RCA and sign with Nice Life Recording Company at the beginning of the year. At this week's 2023 MTV Video Music Awards, Tinashe followed Doja Cat's lead by flaunting her assets on the pink carpet. The "2 On" singer attended the awards ceremony in Newark, New Jersey on Tuesday night (September 12), wearing a shimmering fishnet dress with nothing below save tiny bits of black tape covering her most intimate areas.

She accessorized it with silver jewelry, red nails, and black platform heels. After that, Tinashe joked with her followers on her Instagram page, asking, "X marks the WHAT?" Doja Cat and Tinashe have been compared for years because to their similar appearances; in fact, the latter brought it up in 2021's "Love To Dream" off Planet Her. Doja rhymes, "I look a little like 'Nashe, ay," in the song.
