When John Mayer appeared on CNN's New Year's Eve program via video from a Tokyo kitty cafe, Anderson Cooper just lost it. The host just could not contain himself, laughing nonstop when the recorded video emerged.

Sunday night's CNN New Year's Eve Times Square with Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen took an unexpected turn when John Mayer recorded a video greeting from a kitty café in Tokyo.

Cooper laughed so hard at the guest shot-which featured the singer-songwriter surrounded by dozens of cats-that he started crying.

At Cats in the Box, Mayer even made the time to introduce some of his newfound feline companions.

When Mayer made his appearance at approximately 11:15 p.m. ET, his group of cats almost stole the show by licking and baring different portions of their bodies.

Cohen said at first, "John, this doesn't look sanitary," while Cooper laughed in the background.

"It's a cat bar. I don't know how much more clear I can be about the objective of this place," Mayer said with a straight face, as if he does not know how ridiculous he looked for Cooper, and adorable to fans. Consequence called it the nicest thing to kick off 2024.

That was enough to send Cooper into such fits of giggles that he had to step away from the camera for a little while in order to collect himself.

Mayer remarked, "I can't see Anderson, but I know exactly what he looks like," as Cooper's fit of laughter carried over off screen.

Cohen said, "He's gone, he's off with the fairies here."

"The image of the cat's ass in your face alone is giving him hallucinations."

The plot synopsis states that "ex-soldier Maya discovers a deadly conspiracy that stretches deep into the past when she witnesses her murdered husband on a secret nanny cam."

"A riveting adaptation of one of my favorite of all @HarlanCoben books," said an excited spectator.

Right now, Mayer is on a long solo tour that ends in early spring (you can purchase tickets here). When Cohen inquired about his future plans with Dead & Company during the program (ostensibly in response to a rumor that the band will reconvene for performances at Las Vegas' Sphere). Mayer answered, "I'm not at liberty to say... just yet." However, he said there's hope.
