  • Surprising Acts Join November's EMAs On MTV

We already told you that Miley Cyrus will be at the MTV European Music Awards, and now MTV has announced her partner in crime Robin Thicke will be there as well. But there's more to expect than a stale repeat of the VMAs. It's the 20th anniversary of Snoop Dogg releasing Doggystyle, so Snoop will be there to celebrate with a performance. Imagine Dragons is another name added to the list of Katy Perry, the Killers and Redfoo (LMFAO) who is hosting.
  • Country Music Star On Live Broadcast

Carrie Underwood has a long history of melding music with her television presence. She's racked up six Grammys, five Country Music Association Awards and hosted the award ceremony five times (a sixth to come on November 6th in Nashville). And aside from seeing her singing the Sunday Night Football Theme song, you will now see her in another light: a television broadcast of The Sound of Music.
  • Sneak Peek at Paul McCartney's 'Queenie Eye' With Johnny Depp

Last week we told you about Kate Moss and Johnny Depp appearing in Paul McCartney's upcoming music video. Now Paul McCartney has tweeted a sneak preview clip, with a one-minute long trailer of Depp in "Queenie Eye." McCartney vaguely tweeted "Video coming soon..." to over a million and a half twitter followers. The tweet has already gotten a massive response from his fans and its YouTube views should quickly follow with hits.
  • '12 Years' Film Soundtrack from John Legend

Steve McQueen's 12 Years a Slave garnered buzz from film critics even before its release in select theaters. And now it has the music community talking, too. On November 5th, John Legend and Columbia Records will release a digital soundtrack for the film, according to The Hollywood Reporter. There are 16 tracks, which come from a group of artists with great range in style. On November 5th, the digital version will come out, followed by the "old-school," physical version.
  • Van Morrison Moondance Outtakes to be Released

A massive collection of old Van Morrison songs will be released by Warners Brothers next week, and not at the blessing of the artist himself. According to The Telegraph, there are five CDs of 50 songs, ranging from unreleased mixes to studio recording outtakes. This summer the Moondance reissue was reported as being released September 30th, so there was a short delay. By next week, you should be able to get a hold of it for yourself. At the time, the 1970 album Moondance was released to critical acclaim. The Grammy Hall of Fame inducted it nearly 30 years later, and Moondance is one of Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
  • Sara Bareilles Secret Show: Live From The Artists Den

A secret show with songwriter and pianist Sara Bareilles was announced today by the Artists Den. It's set for October 24th in Los Angeles and part of the Live From the Artists Den series that runs on U.S. public television. The free shows are held in surprise locations all over the country with an invite-only audience. Lucky winners are drawn randomly from the mailing list.
  • Morrissey Autobiography Attracts Critics and Fans of The Smiths

Morrissey has released an autobiography in the UK, fittingly named "Autobiography." The Associated Press reports it has already topped the UK Amazon charts since coming out yesterday, which has some literary critics in a huff. This marks the first rock memoir released with Penguin Classics, a publisher that some would say is strictly reserved for, well, classics. But in the world of rock music, Morrissey is an innovator turned classic at the mere age of 54. From frontman of The Smiths to solo artist, he has continued to make his mark on music and kept the media on its toes.
  • CMJ Is Being Sued

CMJ is in full swing in New York City. A pricey lawsuit couldn't come at a worse time, and that's exactly what The New York Times is now reporting. CMJ is being haunted (not by old rock gods) by an incomplete business transaction four years ago. The CMJ's founder Robert K. Haber was to merge CMJ with Metropolitan Entertainment, headed by concert promoter John Scher, The New York Times reported back in 2009. The estimated $2.4 million deal would have included tours and other programs, but then it went kaput.
  • Q&A: Tiny Ruins Hits The Coasts Before New Album

Tiny Ruins played a tiny room at Culture Collide Festival last weekend. The audience chatted as singer and guitarist Hollie Fullbrook sound-checked. In minutes, she was belting above the gentle acoustic and took command. Everyone fell silent and gravitated toward the stage. Fullbrook's resounding vocals entranced the crowd, building and releasing like waves coming and going out to sea. We caught up with Tiny Ruins for an exclusive Q&A.
  • Kate Moss and Johnny Depp to Star in Paul McCartney Music Video

Yesterday we shared Paul McCartney's new album, fittingly called, New. The lyric video for the single of the same name has racked up over 400K views since being released on YouTube earlier this fall. His next music video for "Queenie Eye" will have some serious star power: Kate Moss and Johnny Depp to name just two.
  • Q&A: Baroque Pop King Jacco Gardner Plays Culture Collide

If you haven't an idea of Jacco Gardner, think Donovan-like offspring of Pink Floyd and The Zombies. Meeting him, you could be fooled into thinking you're frozen in a 1967 D.A. Pennebaker documentary. Just for a moment. And then you realize he's a fresh artist in his own right. Just 25 and hailing from the Netherlands, he brings an experimental sound that has no limits of where it will go from its past influences.
  • Culture Collide Festival: Keaton Henson and Liars

With over 65 acts from countries around the globe, Culture Collide is like the U.N. of Music. The three-day festival has seven venues nestled within Echo Park, LA. There's little room for pretention -- soundchecks happen in front of the audience and artists put their sound and soul on the line for whoever stumbles their way. There's out-door dancing, dark-room discovering, and in some cases, sitting in a church. Keaton Henson and Liars are two standout acts exploring outcast themes, which festival-goers fully embraced from start to finish.
  • Spacehog, Liv Tyler, Sean Lennon to Play David Lynch Foundation Show

Aside from directing standout cinematic moments of our time, David Lynch has a knack for putting together benefit shows you want to see. Maybe it's the mix of acts, or the fact that you know he's not promoting a cause just because it's en vogue. Lynch has been practicing Transcendental Meditation for 40 years. This time the eclectic lineup for the Lynch Foundation benefit show includes Spacehog, Sean Lennon and Liv Tyler.
