• Dr. Martin Salia Dies of Adavanced Ebola Symptoms Despite Testing Negative for Virus Last Week

Sadly, Nebraska Medical Center has confirmed that Dr. Martin Salia has died after a fast-moving battle against the Ebola virus. The surgeon had been treating patients at several facilities in Sierra Leone when he became ill himself. As early as Nov. 6, Salia had tested negative for the deadly virus, but by Saturday, Nov. 15, he was transferred to Nebraska in deteriorating condition. A press conference surrounding Salia's case was scheduled to take place earlier this morning. In the meantime, Nebraska has confirmed that it had treated Salia with a blood plasma transfusion and Zmapp therapy that has worked on several other patients. The surgeon had reportedly arrived at the facility Saturday already showing signs of kidney and respiratory failure, neither of which he was able to rebound from.
  • Robin Williams Was Not Under the Influence of Drugs or Alcohol When He Took His Own Life

Nearly everyone was stunned to learn that Robin Williams had committed suicide last August. He never hid the fact that he had demons and spoke honestly about his battles with drug and alcohol abuse. Williams was one of those actors that seemed to embrace the struggle and always found his way through, somehow. At least until Aug. 11 when he was found hanging in his northern California home. A final autopsy report was released yesterday and its' findings were a bit shocking- there was not a trace of illegal drugs or alcohol in his system at the time of his death.
  • Maynard James Keenan's Birthday Party: Puscifer, A Perfect Circle and Failure to Play

Maynard James Keenan has made an announcement and yes-it will be a concert compiling performances from bands he's been involved with but no-Tool will not be involved. So as grumbly as we are about that last aspect, it still sounds like a pretty sweet gig. We shouldn't complain about shows involving both A Perfect Circle and Puscifer (plus Failure). The show will go down at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles on May 10 (his real birthday is April 17). Tickets will go on sale Friday, although prices haven't been released as of yet.
