Jennifer Lopez 'Ain't Your Mama' Review: Unfortunate Producer Credit Ruins Meghan Trainor Song

Jennifer Lopez has two children of her own but she "Ain't Your Mama." On Thursday (April 7), the American Idol judge released her new single, and despite lyrics in which she refuses to clean up after an immature man and standing firm in that.

The song, which was co-written by Meghan Trainor has the "No" singer's signature sass all over it, and without the Latina flare in the beat, it's really easy to imagine her singing it. With clipped lines like "I ain't gon' be cooking all day, I ain't your mama / I ain't gon' do your laundry, I ain't your mama / I ain't your mama, boy, I ain't your mama / When you gon' get your act together? / I ain't your mama," and a voice that distinctively sounds like Trainor's in the background, there's no escaping that influence.

And, like Trainor's lead Thank You single "No," "Ain't Your Mama" is fittingly catchy. It maintains the sass and mild feminist tones of that track while adding a sort of salsa-meets-sweet tone that JLo has perfected over the years.

But, don't call this song a new feminist anthem, because there's a big problem: it was produced by Dr. Luke, who is notably fighting accusations of abusing and raping Kesha. And, despite Kesha gaining the support of Lady Gaga, Adele, Iggy Azalea and other pop juggernauts, Trainor and Lopez are still working with the controversial figure, and that's something they (rightfully) will have to answer to.

It's a shame that this song is going to be submitted to so much controversy, because Trainor's writing is crisp and Lopez's performance catchy. But, with Dr. Luke's influence, well, the whole thing now just feels icky.

Lopez will debut "Ain't Your Mama" tonight (April 7) on American Idol.
