A$AP Rocky Jumps On Mura Masa's Single 'Lovesick'

A$AP Rocky has working on some new music of his own, reportedly another album, but in the mean time, he has hopped on an updated version of UK producer Mura Masa's single "Lovesick F*ck," now just titled "Lovesick."

Rocky adds a different element and more energy that the original lacked. The beat is largely kept intact, but a few things like the saxophone are suppressed a little to make more room for Rocky.

He flows over the steel drum and hip-hop beat about the trails and tribulations of love.

In the especially noteworthy second verse, he mentions a relationship he has had with someone in the industry. "And now we industry lovers / They making enemies of us / I mean sometimes we in public they drain this energy from us," raps Rocky.

In a statement, Mura Masa, born Alex Crossan, explains how he was able to get Rocky on the track during some shared time in London. He had to rent out Abby Road studios to show he was serious.

"Rocky was actually in London for a couple of days and I wanted to make him feel like I was taking the collaboration seriously, so I booked us in to Abbey Road, Studio 2, and we met up there for a couple of hours and he did his thing. It was a hell of a good time hanging out in such a legendary space with him, very surreal," explains Crossan.

"The track originally was about sex and how I was feeling after a particularly empty encounter with a friend told through a kind of twisted-pop, calypso, hip hop dance track. Rocky kind of ran with that and took it to this lovelorn, exotic place. He totally injected his energy into it."
