"Despacito" of Luis Fonsi feat. Daddy Yankee still reigns in the No. 1 spot in its 16th week on Billboard Hot 100, the same way that "One Sweet Day" of Mariah Carey feat. Boyz II Men stays No. 1 on 1995-1996. Despite not being nominated in any category for an award in the music video at the recently held MTV VMA and not being able to get the Song of Summer award, the Latin song did well on its own. Adding the remix version with Justin Beiber made it more powerful in the history of Billboard Hot 100 chart.

According to Billboard, their archive from Aug. 4, 1958 shows the list of the longest chart-toppers recorded. Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee feat. Justin Bieber's "Despacito" reached No. 1 on May 27, 2017, while "One Sweet Day" of Mariah Carey & Boyz II Men went on to No. 1 on Dec. 2, 1995. As Billboard charts refresh every Tuesday, the week of Sept. 9, 2017, was released showing "Despacito" sitting pretty well at the top.
