Emmy-winning actress Ayo Edebiri addressed the controversy she was recently involved in along with Jennifer Lopez, whom she worked with during her "Saturday Night Live" debut.

Earlier this week, Edebiri's previous sentiments about Jennifer Lopez's singing resurfaced on social media, which many had surprisingly agreed with.

Ayo Edebiri Blasts Jennifer Lopez Singing: A 'Scam'

In a 2020 episode of the Scam Goddess podcast, Edebiri told Laci Mosley that she considers Jennifer Lopez music career to be a "one long scam." She even speculated that Lopez uses ghost singers to sing on her tracks.

"I think she thinks that she's still good, even though she's not singing for most of these songs," Edebiri pointed out back then. "A lot of the write-ups of the songs will be like, 'J.Lo didn't have time to make it to the studio.' Like, 'J.Lo was busy.' Doing what? Not singing, obviously."

The snippet of the podcast episode went viral on social media, but sentiment against Lopez backed Edebiri's claims.

"I mean Ayo didn't lie...that lady been stealing from black woman for the majority of her career," a fan said.

"Ayo Edebiri pointing out the fabrication of J-Lo's career is like pointing out how unhealthy McDonald's is. We all know it, we all joke about it, and Ronald McDonald isn't losing any sleep over it. It is what it is," another pointed out.

Ayo Edebiri Apologizes For Jennifer Lopez Shade On 'SNL'

During Edebiri's sketch on "SNL," the comic-turned-actress burst down on the Kenan Thompson-led show "Why'd You Say It?" (via Entertainment Weekly)

In the game, Thompson shakes down social media trolls about the things they said in the past online. Edebiri's character seemed to subtly address the recent controversy in her confession.

"Okay. We get it," Edebiri's character said. "It's wrong to leave mean comments, or post comments just for clout, or run your mouth on a podcast, and you don't consider the impact because you're 24 and stupid. But I think I speak for everyone when I say from now on, we're going to be a lot more thoughtful about what we post online."

The two seemed to be happy appearing together on the award-winning comedy show. Edebiri introduced Lopez in both of her performances and they gushed on each other in the recorded promo for the show.

"I love your show," Lopez revealed, prompting Edebiri to say "I love your everything."
