Katy Perry is leaving the judge's bench of "American Idol" after seven seasons as she decides to embark on a new era for her music.
Perry has continuously teased in the past few months that she would be releasing new music soon, a thing that music fans are excited to learn about. The pop star has been slammed on the duration of her stay on "American Idol," primarily for the dramatic antics many alleged that she did to spice up the show.

"I love the show so much," she admitted, "but I want to go see the world and maybe bring new music."
Ever since the show was revived in 2018 on ABC, Perry has served as a host along with Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan.
"I think this will probably be my last show, my last season for Idol," she added. "I love Idol so much. It's connected me with the heart of America, but I feel like I need to go out and feel that pulse to my own beat."
Deadline reported in July 2023 that Richie, Perry, and Bryan will all be returning as "American Idol" Season 22 judges, despite rumors saying that one "mean judge" wouldn't be returning in the past few months.
Katy Perry was the subject of many headlines last season primarily because of her mom-shaming comments against contestant Sara Beth Liebe. Liebe, who looks younger than her age, shocked many during the auditions, especially Perry, after confessing that she is already a mom of five despite only being 25 years old.
Perry sarcastically remarked that Liebe had been "laying on the table too much." Many netizens thought the comment was uncalled for given the fact that Perry is a mother too.

Katy Perry New Album 2024
It was reported in 2023 that Katy Perry will be releasing new music in 2024. Katy Perry's album will be her "most personal music yet."
"Katy has been working on her most personal album for much of the last two years", a source revealed to WECB. "She's been doing it on her own terms and it's quite different from anything he's put out before."
It was also rumored that Perry is planning to return to touring along with the album's release.
"After spending so much time on the West Coast of the US, she feels ready to tour again. The demand is there because he has many hits, so taking his work on tour will surely be a great attraction," the source said at the time. "The hope is that it can leave towards the end of 2024, but it is still being resolved".
As of this writing, Katy Perry's new album release date has not yet been revealed but it could either coincide with the current season of "American Idol" Season 22, or around the end of May 2024 where the show would end.
