Fans of Olivia Rodrigo have taken offense at Taylor Swift for releasing a song that was identical to one of their idol's earlier releases.

Swift's new song "imgonnagetyouback" and Rodrigo's 2023 track "Get Him Back!" both contain the phrase "get him back," and are said to have similar dual meanings.

Before we explain what that means, you can check them both out below:

According to those who dissected the lyrics, both refer to trying to make amends with an ex or get revenge on them in both cases.

Fans who remembered how Swift was added to the credits of the Rodrigo song "Deja Vu" in 2021 because they thought the chords sounded similar to those of the Taylor single "Cruel Summer" cannot keep still and quite over this.

Now that they've noticed the parallels, viewers on X have defended Rodrigo.

"so olivia can't scream in a bridge because that's taylor's concept. but taylor can use the whole double meaning of getting them back and it's a common concept? NEWS FLASH they're both common and olivia shouldn't have had to give up 50% royalties on deja vu," one posted (as reported by Daily Mail UK)

Another posted a meme from the film The Social Network with actor Andrew Garfield as shown to be saying, "You better lawyer up, a**hole. 'Cause I'm not coming back for 50%, I'm coming back for everything."

"Olivia Rodrigo when she got to track 18 on the Taylor Swift album," the X user captioned the post.

One fan called it all an "insane hypocrisy" on Swift's part.

"taylor swift accepting a royalty from olivia rodrigo for a line in deja vu that sounds a little cruel summer, when she's just released a song called 'imgonnagetoyouback' which has the exact same concept and similar lyrics to olivia's "get him back" is insane hypocrisy," an X user said.

Another focused on the sounds rather than on the meanings. "Taylor Swift's "imgonnagetoyouback" and Olivia Rodrigo's "get him back" sound frighteningly similar, but Olivia's is much better and was first," the person wrote.

"Not cool at all," one more wrote.

The contentious track by Taylor is off her recently released album, The Tortured Poets Department. The incident that fans were alluding to happened in 2021, after Olivia's album Sour was released. She ran into copyright problems with a couple of the songs, such "Deja Vu" and felt compelled to give up millions of royalties to Swift.
