Richie Sambora, the former guitarist of Bon Jovi, is open to play with the band again, as long as one thing happens.

Amid queries about his potential return, Sambora declared he would play with his former band if Jon Bon Jovi's voice "comes back."

Sambora recently appeared on The Allison Hagendorf Show, where he talked lengthily of the vocalist's recuperation following a 2022 procedure.

"The fans would just love it," the guitarist noted.

"It's not finance [standing in the way]. It has nothing to do with that. The world could use it. But, as Jon said, he's been having problems with his voice. And now he had that operation with some plastic thing in his larynx. And it's an iffy thing at best. I don't know if there's anybody that has ever had that be successful. I'm not really sure about that," he added.

Although the plans have yet to happen, Sambora reportedly visited Bon Jovi after the operation. Regarding the frontman's recovery, the guitarist said "it does not seem almost possible" physiologically speaking.

Sambora told Metro in 2022 that he could have been part of Bon Jovi's Glastonbury festival performance in 2023. However, nobody reportedly invited him at the time. The guitarist started playing with the band in the 1980s when he replaced Dave Sabo. He appeared in 12 albums of the band from 1984 to 2013.

In 2013, Bon Jovi parted ways with Sambora when the latter abruptly left to prioritize his family. The band subsequently enlisted Phil X as his replacement and continued performing.

In other news, Bon Jovi revealed to Entertainment Tonight how his surgery affected his touring future. Although he has been undergoing vocal therapy, the rocker admitted he was not sure what his condition would be.

"Day to day, I'm working hard on it," he said, referencing his treatment and vocal therapy. "Nothing else matters until I work on getting better. It's up to God at this point. I've done everything I can do. I won't fake it.... the legacy matters too much."

He also told Mix 104.1 Boston that his voice would be one of the determining factors in his touring career.
