The CMT Crossroads concert series, which pairs country acts with artists from a different genre, has enlisted country star Lee Ann Womack and R&B singer John Legend  for their latest performance. According to CMT.com, the singers traded fan favorites as well as new material for the episode, which is set to premiere September 26 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on CMT. The session was recorded inside The Factory in Franklin, Tennessee.

"Legend's R&B influences were a fine counterpoint to Womack's country sensibilities as they quickly found common ground on familiar favorites like 'All of Me' and 'I Hope You Dance,'" CMT reported. "In addition, they offered exceptional duet performances of Legend's latest single, 'You and I,' along with Womack's current release, 'The Way I'm Livin',' and several other songs."

Rather than perform with his own band, Legend, who had just returned from a European tour, decided to perform the taping with a group of A-list Nashville musicians that Womack's husband, producer-publisher Frank Liddell selected.

According to CMT, Womack convinced Legend to record a country album during their banter in between performances. In return Legend told the audience how much he respected Womack for being asked to sing "I Hope You Dance" at Maya Angelou's funeral in June and that her music resonated throughout the world.

Legend and Womack are both Grammy winners and have a handful of hits to their name. Legend's latest album, Love in the Future, features the hit "All of Me" while Womack is set to release a new album, The Way I'm Livin', on September 23.

Other recent pairings on the series include Katy Perry and Kacey Musgraves and OneRepublic and Dierks Bentley.
