Remember the hubbub that started late last week when a producer close to David Bowie said that yes, the alt-rock legend would be releasing an album of new material "definitely soon"? Turns out that isn't true...just the result of a complicated yet fairly reasonable misquote according to Pitchfork

"CNN, I didn't say new Bowie album 'soon',"  tweeted Tony Visconti, the producer in question. "I quoted THE MAN who said 'More Music Soon' on Bowienet. That music is Sue."

This could use some summing up: First of all, Visconti is saying that the rumors of new music were started by a commenter on a Bowie-based website. And he claims he didn't say music wasn't coming "soon" but "Sue." That's a references to the track "Sue (Or in A Season of Crime)," one of the two new tracks that will appear on the performer's career retrospective that is due to stop during November. Got it?

If not just understand that there is no new Bowie album on the horizon, at least any one that Visconti has any involvement in.

Bowie dropped Grammy-nominated The Next Day during 2013, which had ended a ten-year run without an album in an overly productive life of music. Many pondered whether the icon had stopped after just one record of material. For now we can only hope that we'll hear more new Bowie soon.

As for seeing Bowie? Visconti couldn't be misinterpreted when discussing whether his employer would be hitting the road soon.

"I don't think he's gonna busk in the Tube...on the Underground," he said. "As far as a concert is concerned I have no idea. He clearly didn't promote The Next Day with a concert and whether he does for the next one I don't know and I couldn't predict that-it's up to him. It's whatever takes his fancy."
