Kendrick Lamar may have the hip-hop world buzzing this week with the release of his poppy, peppy and positive new single "i" but he's not done releasing new music... not by a long shot. Today (Sept. 25), new music from the Compton emcee hit the web, a snippet of a track entitled "I'm Da Man."

The 53-second snippet mysteriously and quietly popped up on SoundCloud and calls back to Lamar's debut album, good kid, m.A.A.d. city far more than feeling reminiscent of the highly melodic "i."

The beat is simply bombastic and explosive, with heavily thumping basslines and boastful rhymes from Lamar.

"Yeah, I'm the man / Tell them Roger that / I got b***hes shattering glasses trying to holla back / My pocket's fat, if not they getting there / And V.I.P., n***a, you're never getting there," he blasts at the top of the snippet with a notable attitude.

Lamar's voice is notably higher pitched on "I'm Da Man" and the beats are far harder than "i," which leads some to believe this may, in fact, be an old snippet from an older song.

However, "I'm Da Man" could be part of that promised edge for Lamar's second studio album, which he's expected to drop sometime in the coming months. Whatever "I'm Da Man" is from, it's clear that this is one hard-hitting banger.
