Jessica Simpson is opening up again about her past struggles with alcohol, this time through an emotional live performance of an unreleased song that reflects her personal journey.

The 45-year-old singer performed at Yaamava' Resort & Casino in Highland, California, where she introduced a new track titled "Give It All Away."

Before singing, Simpson spoke directly to the audience about how her relationship with alcohol once shaped her life in painful ways.

"I realized that the drinking wasn't numbing my pain," she told the crowd. "It was actually causing more pain." Her comments came as she explained the meaning behind the song, which she described as deeply personal.

Simpson said she sees herself as "a work in progress" and wanted the audience to understand the message behind the music, US Magazine reported. She added that sharing the song felt important because of everything she has lived through.

"I celebrate each and every day that I feel alive and in my body, and I'm very proud of myself," she said. "It felt right to share this song with you."

Jessica Simpson Reflects on Sobriety

According to People, Simpson also encouraged fans to be kind to themselves, saying, "I want all of you to know that you should have a little grace for yourself, and everything is gonna be OK if you just give it all away, and that's what this song is about."

Simpson has been open for years about her sobriety journey. She gave up alcohol in 2017 after what she has described as a difficult spiral that affected her mental health and daily life.

In earlier interviews, she admitted she didn't immediately realize the seriousness of her drinking, often telling herself she would slow down before eventually recognizing she needed to stop completely.

She has also spoken about how alcohol affected her sense of identity, saying she no longer recognized herself during that time in her life. After choosing sobriety, she said she became more present and focused on her family and future.

The singer, who shares three children with estranged husband Eric Johnson, has continued to reflect on that decision publicly.

In a past Instagram post marking eight years of sobriety in 2025, Simpson said giving up alcohol allowed her to reconnect with her purpose and faith.

"Alcohol silenced my intuition, blocked my dreams," she wrote at the time, adding that choosing sobriety helped her find clarity and strength.
