For the uninitiated, "A$AP" might seem like the new hip prefix in hip-hop, somewhat like "lil" and variations on the word "young." The nickname is actually a title, denoting that all the rappers popping up with the first-name "A$AP" are members of the New York hip-hop collective the A$AP Mob. The group, which features rap noisemakers A$AP Rocky and A$AP Ferg, have announced a release date for an upcoming album featuring all members.

A$AP Ferg and A$AP Yams, one of the founders of the group, were interviewed by Vibe magazine on the red carpet at the MTV Video Music Awards, when Yams gave an official release for the yet untitled album.

"Listen, all I gotta say is A$AP Mob album, October 15," the emcee said. "I ain't wanna say the date, but the day got leaked to the internet. October 15, about to hit 'em fourth quarter again...Untitled for now, but we going to deliver."

The group was officially founded during 2007, but has seen a dramatic rise during 2013 thanks to releases from Rocky and Ferg. Rocky's "Long. Live. A$AP" was released in January, topping the Billboard 200, thanks to the hype surrounding his mix tape of the same name, released two years earlier. His success helped build up anticipation for Ferg's "Trap Lord," which debuted on August 20. As of press time, Billboard hadn't released official numbers for the first week of sales, but the album received generally positive reviews.

No new music has been released from the A$AP collective album, but if the release date has leaked, actual tracks can't be too far behind.
