Kings of Leon are streaming "Mechanical Bull," on iTunes one week ahead of its scheduled release date (Sept. 24).

The sixth studio album features 11 tracks (and two bonus songs), recorded in the band's Nashville studio with longtime producer Angelo Petraglia. The follow-up to 2010's "Come Around Sundown," the album comes after the resolution of an "internal sickness" within the band (who are all family members), which came to light last summer after lead singer Caleb Followill abruptly left the stage during the middle of a show in Dallas, Texas. They ended up cancelling the rest of their American tour.

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Nathan Followill said that "Mechanical Bull" is the first album in which they weren't writing songs on the road. "This record, we had to go back to the blueprint of what we did on our first album," he told them, "when we locked ourselves in a house and rolled the dice." Much of the material on "Mechanical Bull" has the youthful, grimy rock 'n' roll feel that was prevalent on their debut record.
