Toronto indie rock collective, Broken Social Scene, has shared the music video for its song "Golden Facelift," which you can check out below. The video is basically a five-minute recap of all the major events in 2014, ranging from the rise of ISIS to the racial tensions in the United States to inconsequential viral videos, however, when placed side by side, they all come off as equally significant in the building of our culture. There are also some graphic shots of surgical procedures, so don't watch if you're squeamish.

Though the "Golden Facelift" music video addresses the biggest stories of 2014, the song was actually recorded back in 2010 during the sessions for Broken Social Scene's last album, Forgiveness Rock Record, and was recently included on the Broadsheet Music: A Year in Review compilation along with songs by Reuben and the Dark, Tamara Williamson and Absolutely Free, F**ked Up, Jason Collett and Zeus, and Brendan Canning.

"2014 has not been without its beauty," the band wrote in the song's description, "but it has also been a year of incredible brutality and all of humanity has a great deal to answer for. Broken Social Scene aims to echo the voice and concerns of the underdog while creating music that will hopefully inspire those who are doing good and useful things for this planet and humankind."

This newly unearthed song comes as a pleasant surprise to Broken Social Scene fans, as the band announced an indefinite hiatus back in 2011 following their tour in support of Forgiveness Rock Record. However, in an interview with The Line of Best Fit back in April, frontman Kevin Drew said that he "can see Broken Social Scene recording again."
