If David Duchovny has his way, The X-Files will definitely be headed back to Fox in a limited run. The actor shot to fame portraying Fox Mulder beside Gillian Anderson's Dana Scully on the supernatural cult classic that ran from 1993–2002. The network just made diehard fans of the series ridiculously happy this week by confirming that a reboot of the show is really in the works. Apparently, seeing how successful 24 was last spring has made the network brass start to consider bringing back a few old shows, and The X-Files is at the top of the list.

In an interview with USA Today, Duchovny said that he would be "more than happy and excited to bring it back and do it again with Gillian [Anderson] and Chris [Carter]. I'm assuming that it will happen sooner rather than later now. We'll see what form, how many [episodes]. Certainly I can't nor would I be interested in doing a full season. It will be in some kind of limited form. We're all old, we don't have the energy for a full season."

Since the actor has been romantically linked to Anderson it's fair to think that she's probably on board for a limited run as well, otherwise he wouldn't be making such hopeful comments to the press, right? Anderson's schedule is also pretty full as she currently is getting great reviews for her role on the BBC's The Fall, acting opposite Jamie Dornan.

Do you guys think this is kind of already a done deal and a rebooted, slightly older Scully and Mulder are on their way back to Fox's lineup? If so, will you be tuning in to see how the writers manage to update the series while honoring its history? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below!
