Fox Confessor Brings The Flood was Case's fourth solo album overall, and was widely considered to be one of the best albums of 2006. Case's most recent solo album The Worse Things Get, The Harder I Fight, The Harder I Fight, The More I Love You was released back in 2013, and was her sixth solo effort overall.

"I was really inspired by fairy tales on this record," Case told The A.V. Club about Fox Confessor Brings The Flood back in 2006, "so I wanted to make stories that were more like fairy tales than modern-day stories. Things that were a little more fantastical, with characters like animals who talk and whatnot, 'cause I was always really attracted to those kinds of things in stories."

Most recently, Case appeared on The New Pornographers' latest album Brill Bruisers, which was released back in August and was the band's sixth studio album overall, their first since 2010's Together.
