Funkmaster Flex has been a busy man lately getting groups back together. He was instrumental in bringing Dipset back together after years of infighting and each artist pursuing their own solo career to varying degrees of success. In a new interview with Hip-Hop Wired, the Hot 97 DJ listed off some of the projects he was working on and mentioned he was in doing something with The Fugees, the celebrated, multi-platinum and Grammy-award winning 1990s hip-hop, soul and reggae group.

Specifically, he says it's a "group I've been working on, speaking to the members" — though he does not specify for what, about what or give any further details.

There has been plenty of interest in a Fugees reunion since they broke up in 1997. The trio, comprised of Wyclef Jean, Lauryn Hill and Pras Michel, reunited for a tour in 2004–2005, but that disintegrated after the members had a falling out, music was not coming along as planned, and shows were not as well received as expected. Jean was notably absent at the last Fugees show in 2011 during Rock The Bells.

Despite his absence, he claims to still be the group's number one fan and remains open to a reunion as of November 2014. Whether or not the other members are into this idea is another matter, but if someone could bring these three together it might just be Funk Flex. A reunion with either music or touring would be welcome to fans who have awaiting something from them for years.

The Fugees achieved cult-like status in the mid-1990s despite only releasing two albums, 1994's Blunted on Reality and 1996's The Score. The Score sold over 6 million copes and produced the hot single "Killing Me Softly."
