The Hudson Project got off to a rocky start during 2014 and it looks, for the time being at least, that the electronic music festival might not be back as a result. A representative of Winston Farms, the location for the event last year, told a local paper in upstate New York that "the Hudson Project is on hold for the moment" and "it's not coming back this year."

His statement certainly didn't rule out future occasions but the tone was certainly a negative one. The concept of The Hudson Project was an electronic and hip-hop-oriented music festival held on the same grounds that hosted Woodstock (in 1994 that is). However things were out to a bad start from the get-go. Despite hosting a quality lineup (including Kendrick Lamar, Bassnectar and the Flaming Lips), attendance was less than expected. Official numbers were never disclosed but, according to Dancing Astronaut, the total number of fans was several thousand below the 20 to 25,000 expected.

A weak first year is alright if the goal is simply to build up buzz for next year's event, however Hudson Project got almost nothing but bad press as a result of a last day disaster: Intense rain caused the cancellation of the Sunday events, and flooding on the grounds stranded fans, who had camped for the weekend, in the muck.

The Saugerties Times confirms that Winston Farms is planning other events for the summer season, although no confirmation as of yet on what scale, or to what sort of fan base such events might appeal. If anyone is looking to come back to The Hudson Project however, they'll have to wait until 2016 at the earliest.

They still managed to make a short aftermovie however:
