My Morning Jacket announced their upcoming new album The Waterfall and dropped its lead single "Big Decisions" earlier this month, and now they've dropped a trailer for the effort. The trippy, ocean-inspired clip shows the rock quintet recording their 10-track seventh studio album at their sprawling Panoramic House studio at Northern California's Stinson Beach, ending on a long pan over the album's majestic cover art. It also features previews of five new tracks: "Spring (Among the Living)," "Big Decisions," "Compound Fracture," "Believe (Nobody Knows)," and "Get the Point."

"We hope you enjoy this peek under the waterfall," the band said in a statement.

This taste of the album shows eclectic hints of spacey soul-pop, country-folk, and psychedelic rock, all inspired by the area where the album was recorded.

"For me, every record has the spirit of where we made it," frontman Jim James said in a statement (via Rolling Stone). "Stinson Beach was so psychedelic and focused. It was almost like we lived on our own little moon out there. It feels like you're up in the sky."

The diverse sounds on the album stem from the band's desire to enter the studio with an experimental spirit and a more spontaneous approach to song structure.

"The freedom we went into this record with took a lot of the pressure off, as far as what to do and how to do it," drummer Patrick Hallahan said in a statement. "The mantra was anything goes, no stone unturned, it'll be done when it's done."

The Waterfall is due out May 4 and follows up 2011's Circuital.

The band has also announced an extensive North American and European/UK tour in support of the effort. The North American jaunt kicks off in May in Athens, Georgia, and makes its way across the Midwest and down South before heading overseas in August for the European/UK leg, which begins in Paris.
