With the passing of any music legend, an increase in music sales is sure to follow. As one could expect, after half of the sibling group the Everly Brothers, Phil Everly, passed away last week, the 1950s duo saw a massive rise in album and single sales.

According to Billboard, the Everly Brothers sold 5000 albums last week from its catalogue, a rise of 455 percent. The compilation album The Very Best of the Everly Brothers led the sales pack with 2000 units sold, debuting at No. 8 on the Country Catalog Albums chart.

Meanwhile, the Everly Brothers' singles rose nearly sevenfold in sales. Last week, the band's various singles saw a 696 percent increase in sales. Logically, the band's (arguably) biggest hit "All I Have To Do Is Dream" sold the most digital downloads with 4000 copies sold.

Some of the Everly Brothers other hits included "Bye Bye Love," "Cathy's Clown" and "Wake Up Little Susie." Their particular brand of '50s country-pop hid darkened lyrics behind sunshiney melodies and harmonies, creating some of America's most distinctive sounds from a bygone era.

Phil Everly passed away on Friday, Jan. 3, at the age of 74 is chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. He is survived by his wife, Patti and brother/musical partner Don Everly.
