Chicago-based rapper Towkio has unveiled the next track from his upcoming mixtape .Wav Theory. Part of Chance the Rapper's SAVEMONEY crew with Vic Mensa and others, he has been tabbed by many as a name to watch not only from Chicago, but also on the national hip-hop scene. The latest cut from the mixtape "Heaven Only Knows" features Chance, Norwegian producer Lido and Chicago-based singer Eryn Allen Kane.
Lido lays down the groundwork with soft and soulful piano with an accompanying organ that transitions into glitzy, shimmering synths and pitched up, chopped vocal samples. Eryn Allen Kane's vocals add an ethereal, soulful touch to the builds, while Towkio and Chance are at their best in verses that flow effortlessly through the whole tune.
"Heaven Only Knows" follows up the last track "Involved" from the project featuring Vic Mensa and production from Kaytranada.
Towkio will release his upcoming mixtape .Wav Theory April 28 with features from the likes of Vice Mensa, Chance the Rapper, Donnie Trumpet, Kaytranada and others.
As Chance asks in wonder at the end of the track, "Why you about to have the hottest tape of 2015?," he is a bit biased, but from what we have heard thus far, it is an early contender. Stream the song below on SoundCloud.
