Avril Lavigne is still on the road to recovery form her battle with Lyme Disease, but today (April 16), as promised, the "Hello Kitty" singer released a new single "Fly" to help support the Special Olympics.
The music video for "Fly" keeps it simple and to the point: Lavigne sings in the recording the studio behind a pink microphone will footage of athletes from the Special Olympics appear on screen. During some footage, Lavigne can be seen meeting and hanging out with the participants, adding an extra level of personal flavor to this inspiring song.
Lyrically, Lavigne looks to tell everyone that they're meant to "fly." "It's your time to shine / There's a light inside of all of us / Soon, you'll find that it's your time to fly," she sings in the chorus, backed by a piano and a swell of strings.
And the message (which now seems to resonate with Lavigne as well as the atheletes): never give up.
