Two acts dominated the pop categories at the 2014 Grammys, and they weren't necessarily the ones you expected. The best-selling single of the year, "Blurred Lines" by Robin Thicke, couldn't grab a trophy despite three nominations. The best-selling album of the year, The 20/20 Experience by Justin Timberlake, took home Best R&B Performance for "Pusher Love Girl" but fell flat for both of its Pop genre nominations. Daft Punk and Lorde weren't exactly surprise winners, but they ended the night the most decorated of the pop artists in attendance.

DAFT PUNK

The biggest award of the night was obviously the Album of The Year trophy for Random Access Memories, but the French electronic duo got four other Grammys to complement it on their shelves. The pair's hit single "Get Lucky" was the highlight of the album, and as such it took the prizes for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance and Record of The Year. Fortunately the group had Pharrell Williams to do the talking. Also fortunately, they had Williams, Nile Rodgers and Stevie Wonder to make their live performance halfway-worth watching.

LORDE

The New Zealand rookie was a long-shot for Best New Artist, but she took home both the Best Pop Solo Performance and Song of The Year Grammy home for her hit "Royals." She also did so while maintaining her dignity, delivering a far more convincing (and enjoyable) goth-rock performance with her two-man band than also-ran Katy Perry did with her monstrous showing of "Dark Horse." Lorde quickly fell back to being a 17 y.o. when she reached the podium, perhaps suddenly realizing how huge a deal she was.

BRUNO MARS

Mars has quite a challenge in front of him when he tackles the freezing weather at the Super Bowl next week, so the Grammys saw fit to give him a confidence boost while he was in the warm confines of Los Angeles. The pop star took home Best Pop Vocal Album for Unorthodox Jukebox, the fifth bestselling album of 2013.
