Getting to and from concerts can be a nightmare. Nobody wants to drive and if they are far away, the time spent in traffic can be almost as long as the music itself. Uber has been teamed up with some local promoters and venues around the country to provide free or discounted rides to attendees to and from shows, but has not partnered with any major promoter on a wide scale. Today that changes as the most valuable private company in the world, Uber (which is rumored to be approaching a $50 billion valuation) and Live Nation have partnered to provide rides for customers at 64 festivals and venues across the United States. The partnership will include over 62 different venues and 20 festivals nationwide like Electric Daisy Carnival (New York and Las Vegas), Sasquatch! Music Festival, Hard Summer and Voodoo Music & Arts Experience.

A lot of the festivals come from the Insomniac and Hard Events family, plus there are rock and country events hosted by Live Nation.

"Fans want the journey to and from a concert to be as smooth as possible. Uber offers a convenient alternative to driving for riders to any event, and we are thrilled about the experience this brings for all of our fans," says Russell Wallach, President of Live Nation Media & Sponsorships in a statement.

Uber will showing up at venues ranging from theaters to clubs to amphitheaters all across the United States in cities like Los Angeles, New York City, Denver, Dallas, Chicago, Boston, New Orleans, San Diego, Atlanta and more.

Unfortunately, the deal does not apply for users who already have the app. Only those who are new to downloading the app will receive $20 off their ride. The Spotify move is looking a lot smarter now...
