A lot of Love & Hip Hop NY fans were surprised to learn that Yandy Smith and Mendeecees Harris were going to go through with their live wedding ceremony over Memorial Day weekend. It was kind of their last hurrah as a couple before Harris is formally sentenced in August for being part of a drug ring. It is expected that he will be going away for years, leaving Smith behind to care for three kids pretty much on her own. The wedding itself was intended to be like a modern fairy tale so leave it to former cast mate, Erica Mena to find a way to get some shade in there.

When asked on Twitter if Mena's wedding to Shad Moss will also be televised, she responded saying that she didn't want her wedding to be a joke. It's no secret that since leaving LHHNY Mena has had quite a bit to say about the show that made her relevant. She is quick to express her gratitude while then claiming to be above the rest of the cast. We'll see how that works out for her in the coming year when they are all filming and she's not, right?

In the meantime, what are your thoughts on Yandy and Mendeecees' wedding? They have been presented as a modern love story, one that includes drugs, jail and dishonesty. While it's pretty easy to want to support Yandy and see her happy, is peddling her marriage to Mendeecees the best way to do it? Reality is, they probably agreed to a live ceremony because VH1 was coughing up a nice chunk of cash that they really need. Without that incentive Yandy may not have agreed to have her ceremony on television at all.

Do you agree with Mena, was their ceremony kind of a joke? Do you think that they take those vows seriously? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below!
