During a visit to "The Angie Martinez Show" on Power 105.1 this week, August Alsina opened up about his eye disease and announced a new album slated for a fall release.

While chatting with Martinez, Alsina revealed that he had a disease called Keratoconus, which caused blindness in his left eye and loss of vision in his right. The "No Love" singer underwent a surgery that would prevent his vision from getting worse.

"It hurt like hell, but it definitely made me have a different perspective on life," he said.

Alsina expressed his gratefulness for the ability to see in a previously shared Instagram post following the surgery.

"A lot of things that are so natural to us in life (like waking up and being able to see) we can take it for granted," he wrote. "Thank God the OG for allowing me to see.. The good the bad the ugly, I'm just glad to see."

Aside from his health concerns, Alsina has been focusing on putting out some new music. He shared with Martinez his hopes to release his sophomore album sometime around the end of August/mid-September. The project will feature his new single "Hip-Hop," which he recently released a video for.

"That's really what the single is, celebrate your sorrows and keep your head up and know that it's something better to come," he said. "Embrace your journey, embrace your struggle."
