Miley Cyrus has released new song "Hands Of Love," written by former 4 Non Blondes member Linda Perry, which makes an appearance in the trailer for the new film Freehold. Freehold stars Ellen Page and Oscar Winner Julianne Moore, who portray lesbian couple Stacie Andree and Laurel Hester, who were denied spousal pension benefits in New Jersey when police officer Hester fell ill with terminal cancer and then fought the county officials to obtain benefits.

Linda Perry rarely writes songs to appear in motion pictures, citing that she's too thin-skinned for and that "Everybody has an opinion, don't they? It never works out for me," but was moved enough by the film to compose the song in her car immediately after the screening. "I've never had this happen before," she said of the process. "The arrangement is there, the lyrics are showing up, I can't get to a piano, there's no instruments, there's no nothing - it's all just floating around inside my head."

Time reported that Page wanted Cyrus on the Perry track, who has also worked with pop megastars Christina Aguilera and Pink in the past. "She has a really raw, unique, awesome, beautiful voice and Miley's doing a lot of incredible things for the LGBTQ community," Page told the magazine, "I just thought it was going to be a perfect fit. She and Linda made something really special. I kept listening to it after I heard it."

Cyrus is an open advocate of LGBTQ rights and apparently felt it was a good way for her to put her passion into both her music and a film that is all about those issues. "People like to learn through entertainment," she said, "It's an interactive way to get people to hear your message by putting a song they like to listen to, or a film they want to see." Billboard reported that the film will be in theatres early next month (Oct. 2). The trailer premiered exclusively in Time Magazine this past Monday (Sept. 13).
