Terrence Howard has played a variety of roles throughout his acting career and even earned an Oscar nomination for 2005's Hustle & Flow, but he may be ready to throw in the towel. Howard recently hinted at his retirement and revealed his post-Empire plans while talking with Extra.

Howard, who plays Lucious Lyon on the highly-sucessful FOX drama, admitted to Jerry Penacoli that his latest role has accelerated his celebrity status.

"I was never as famous as a film actor as I am now," he said during the exclusive interview.

While he also discussed the show's massive ratings and the friendly competition with co-star Taraji P. Henson, he touched on his plans after the series as well. Howard, who has been married since late 2013, welcomed a new son this May and revealed that he intends to focus more on family life upon retirement.

"I want to give Lucious the rest that I have in this creative space, and then I want to raise my son," he said. "I've got a beautiful baby boy. I've met my one, and I'll be with her until time definite."

During the interview, Howard teased what's ahead in season 2 of Empire, saying, "Maybe [Lucious] having a bipolar mother had a huge effect on him. That is one of the things we're uncovering."

The show is currently on hiatus as the New York Mets and Kansas City Royals face off in the World Series. As previously reported, those who have been tuned in to the ongoings of the Lyon family won't have answers to the major cliffhanger until the matchup has concluded. Empire is expected to return with its sixth episode, "A High Hope For A Low Heaven" on, Wednesday, Nov. 4 at 9 p.m. EST. However, if the World Series goes to a Game 7 it will be played on the night of Nov. 4, meaning a new Empire would be pushed back to Wednesday, Nov. 11.

Once season 2 resumes, Lucious and Cookie, played by Henson, will team up to find their son Hakeem, who was kidnapped at the end of episode 5 while running in a park. Recap the last episode here.
