The republican presidential field has had a tough time with their music. This election cycle Neil Young has filed a complaint against Donald Trump for using "Rockin' in the Free World," Rand Paul had his campaign launch video taken down for not clearing John Rich's "Shuttin' Detroit Down" and that is likely just the beginning. Now Marco Rubio, who is attempting to be progressive with his music choices that appeal to the youth, has received a cease-and-desist letter from Axwell to stop Rubio's campaign from using Axwell /\ Ingrosso's hit "Something New."

Speaking at Furman University in South Carolina on Saturday, Rubio lamented the fact he was not able to play some of his favorite electronic music as a walk out song.

"Electronic dance music - I'm a fan of. We just can't play it cause none of the DJ guys - they all send us letters, 'Don't play my music. I'm Swedish. I don't care about American politics,'" the Republican presidential candidate joked via NBC.

His spokesperson clarified on Twitter that is was Axwell who issued the cease & desist letter to stop the campaign from playing the duo's song "Something New."

The saga of Rubio and "Something New" goes back to April, when the Djs expressed their displeasure with the candidate's choice of music. It appears as though things have gotten serious with an official cease-and-desist letter.

In the past, Rubio professed his love for pop and EDM artist, whose music would skew to a younger audience. He has cited examples of Tiësto, David Guetta and Nicki Minaj as some of his favorite artists right now.
