Justin Timberlake has new music and a new movie on the way in 2016, but it's not necessarily like you expect. On Tuesday (Jan. 5), the "Drink You Away" singer was announced not only as a voice actor in the upcoming Dreamworks movie Trolls but also as the film's executive music producer.

Timberlake has signed on to play Branch in Trolls, The Hollywood Reporter notes, which is the film's male lead. He's the film's "hardcore survivalist" to what is Anna Kendrick's Princess Poppy.

In addition to playing one of the iconic Troll dolls in the film (yes, this movie is about *those* trolls), Timberlake will lead the movie soundtrack as the executive music producer. He is also slated to contribute a few songs to the accompanying album.

"I have always envisioned bringing the two worlds of film and music together for one epic event [and] couldn't be more excited that they will collide in DreamWorks' Trolls. This film is very special, the music is going to be very special and I can't wait for everyone to experience it all," Timberlake said in a statement.

The music will be Timberlake's first since his September 2013 album The 20/20 Experience - 2 of 2.

This won't be Timberlake's first foray in to voice acting - the pop superstar also contributed his voice to Shrek the Third as Artie. Timberlake has also acted in a variety of movies, including The Social Network, Bad Teacher, Friends with Benefits and Inside Llewyn Davis. His last film role was in the 2013 crime thriller Runner Runner.

Trolls is expected to hit theatres on Nov. 4.
